Mike Joki, MSPT

As a native Oregonian, Mike has been a physical therapist for 21 years. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Portland State University in 1985. He then attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. , earning his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1988. Mike has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association(APTA) since 1985 as well as membership in the Orthopedic and Private Practice sections of the APTA.

Mike has been practicing in Corvallis since 1991 and brings 15 years of experience as a clinical director to Timberhill Physical Therapy. Since graduating from P.T. School his focus has been in outpatient orthopedics. His treatment philosophy incorporates performing a thorough evaluation to determine dysfunction and establishing a program to maximize recovery. He utilizes a variety of manual treatment techniques including soft tissue and joint mobilization, myofascial release technique, strain counterstrain, muscle energy, and the ASTYM system. Mike also takes a functional approach to his treatments including individually designed therapeutic exercise programs, McKenzie's MDT, and he has a special interest in aquatic therapy.

Away from his practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, traveling, landscaping, exercising and supporting OSU beaver athletics.


Carol Staff2

Carol Sweeney, RPT

In 44 years of working as a physical therapist Carol can say she has enjoyed this profession wholeheartedly. She is continuing to study and grow in her skills as a physical therapist. Carol graduated from the University of Kansas in 1965 with a BS in physical therapy.

In the first 20 years she worked in the areas of acute inpatient care, pulmonary therapy and outpatient orthopedic care. Her work locations included a German physical therapy clinic and outpatient orthopedic care for university students.

In 1985 she began her private practice in Timberhill Athletic Club making use of the club facilities in treating patients. In 1995 she expanded the business. It became known as Timberhill Physical Therapy. She has attended an average of two continuing education courses each year developing skill in a variety of manual treatment techniques including muscle energy, strain-counterstrain, Mulligan mobilization, and joint mobilization.

For 13 years she was an ASPO certified childbirth educator. Currently she operates a free physical therapy clinic at Community Outreach one night a week.

Carol and her husband, Dave, have gotten involved with the TOUCH project through the Corvallis Sister Cities program. This has resulted in numerous trips to Uzhgorod, Ukraine, to support programs for orphans. Carol has three grown children, two daughters and a son. She also has a wonderful 2 year old grandson, Cooper. They are all at the top of her list of favorite people in the world.


Kathy Moen, PT, ATC

Kathy Moen graduated with a Master in Physical Therapy degree in 1996 from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Her undergraduate degree from Oregon State University is in Exercise & Sport Science with an Athletic Training emphasis. She spent the early years of her education on the sidelines of OSU collegiate sporting events as a Student Athletic Trainer. After graduating from OSU in 1991, she worked two years as a Certified Athletic Trainer in a public high school in Portland, Oregon. Since graduating from physical therapy school, Kathy has focused on orthopedic outpatient physical therapy. She has a special interest in treating sports medicine injuries and helping patients return to full fitness activities. She has continued her education with a focus on improving her manual therapy skills. She has taken classes in Muscle Energy, Strain/Counterstrain, Mulligan mobilization, and Pilates exercise techniques most recently. Kathy joined Timberhill Physical Therapy in March of 1998 and has been very happy to be able to return to the Willamette Valley to practice physical therapy.

Kathy's personal interests include traveling, camping, hiking, scrapbooking, supporting OSU beaver athletics, and spending lots of time with her husband and two children.


Marie Winterscheid, PT

Marie has been working as a physical therapist for the past 25 years. She grew up in Washington State near Seattle and graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Her experience has been mostly in sports medicine and orthopedics, but she has also worked in pediatrics, home health, and hospice. Over the years she has taken many continuing education classes. She is well trained in manual treatment techniques including craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, visceral mobilization, and lymphadema massage.

Her husband, George, is the special education director for the Philomath School District and the principal at Clemens Primary School. Her son, Ben, is studying electrical engineering at OIT, and her daughter, Gail, is studying art at OSU.

Marie enjoys traveling, hunting for agates, scuba diving, sewing, and photography.


Debbie Bezanson, LPTA

Debbie Bezanson is a believer in a holistic approach to physical therapy, and understands that problems cannot be treated in isolation.. She couples her intuitive diagnostic skills with a wide repertoire of manual and other techniques learned through long experience and extensive training.

Debbie has been a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in Oregon for the last 33 years, after acquiring her degree from Mt. Hood Community College in 1976. Since then, she has worked in almost every discipline of physical therapy. She specializes in manual therapy, such as muscle energy, myofascial release, cranio-sacral, and lymphedema management techniques.

In her limited spare time, Debbie enjoys listening to live music, writing and producing variety shows for the local stage, working in stained glass, and traveling throughout the wilder parts of her native Oregon. She also enjoys spending time with her two lovely grown daughters. Debbie is owned by Nala, her cat.


Cheryl VanLeuven
Office Manager

Cheryl joined Timberhill Physical Therapy in 1995. She has worked in various medical fields and brings 27 years of experience in patient needs, management, and insurance billing to the office.

Cheryl has a wonderful husband, two great sons, two grandsons and a granddaughter. She and her family enjoy camping and four wheeling whenever they get the chance.


Donna Cowger
Office Assistant

Originally from the Seattle area and having attended the University of Washington, Donna finds Corvallis a wonderful place to have raised her family. She has been with TPT since 1997 and appreciates the warm, caring attitude of the staff. When not working, she has been know to enjoy sports, reading, traveling, sailing, and a glass of great wine...not necessarily in that order!


Vicki Wear
Office Assistant

Vicki and her husband, Tim recently moved to Corvallis from Illinois. They sold their construction business of 33 years and packed a few boxes and flew to Corvallis to live. They both wanted to spend more time with their son Zack and granddaughter Cleo Velvet.

Vicki has worked in the Medical field most of her working years. She appreciates and enjoys coming to work. She enjoys the warm, friendly, and caring staff at Timberhill PT. Working with the public made her move to Corvallis somewhat easier for her.
